Yankee Communications was started in 1986 as a family owned, christian business in the small town of Benton, Maine. As is the case with many Maine business adventures this one started small. Our first radio was sold off of the kitchen table and that was a complete inventory reduction sale.
As time passed and business grew we were able to operate out of a garage space. In 1994 we hired our first fulltime employee, and In 1995 we started Yankee Trophy and hired our 2nd full time employee.Things just grew from there and in 1998 I gave up my “day job” and became the 3rd full time employee at Yankee. That same year we took over the entire complex here with the radio shop in the double wide and the trophy shop in the garage space.
In 2005 we purchased the property on Benton Neck next to the Fun Park as our radio and public safety installation facility and in 2008 we purchased the Fun Park and moved the trophy business to its own location at the Fun Park.
Later in the spring of 2012, we moved to a much larger more adequate space in Clinton Maine where we could continue to build our mobile surveillance, public safety, and radio world! Then finally in 2016 we moved to a slightly smaller more comfortable space, behind the Fun Park, where we are currently located. Now we have 7 full time employees and one part time person keeping things straight.
We have continued to grow and expand into new areas. We now offer full two-way radio installs and repairs, and public safety installs (including police, fire, etc.)
We sell Kenwood, Motorola, Whelen, Watchguard, Guardian Angel, and a large assortment of other equipment. We also offer pickup and deliver service in the local area for no extra charge.
